Congrats to our friends at Twitter on moving into their new offices. We totally covet the throw pillows that came with every employee’s new desk!
Update: The pillows were done by the folks at Throwboy. Which reminds me that I’ve been meaning to order some Birdfeed pillows.

Trip to Twitter!

Last week Twitter, Inc ordered some custom pillows for each of their employees. We had less than a week to complete and deliver in time for their new office opening. So, with a lot of fabric, stuffing, and Redbull we managed to finish them just in the nick of time.

Well, kinda. Because there were no other emergency shipping options (FedEx Sameday requires a US Gov pass) to get them their by Monday, we made a last minute road trip from Seattle to San Francisco ;) Pictures from the trip (video coming soon).

The folks at Twitter we’re totally surprised and loved their pillows.

Hey ya’ll!

Just wanted to post a little update for what we’ve been up to lately. I broke it down into two bite sized updates (minus the fat).

Now:

For the past couple months we’ve just been busting through a lot of orders and making a lot of pillows. It’s been pretty nutty around here but we’re working on new pillow lines for the near future that we’re stoked about.

Later:

We’re working on a comedy webshow! It’s going to be set in the Throwboy factory with a fun twist on what goes on behind the scenes here. We’ll have our first episode up in a few weeks! Let us know what you think :D

So our 2000 Twitter follower party is only days away and we need someone to design our cake! I’d do it myself but I’m more of a fleece & stuffing kind of guy. Wanna give it a shot?

Gnomedex 2009

Oh hai!

This weekend I attended Gnomedex 2009 here in Seattle. Gnomedex is an annual tech conference where people from the tech community (bloggers, entrepreneurs, geeks, etc.) get together and talk about the future of technology. It’s put on by Chris Pirillo and this year was the ninth year.

I had a blast meeting new people, listening to the talks, taking notes, and just geeking out. Throwboy also made and provided a special edition LockerGnome pillows (aka Pirillows) to giveaway at the event (pictured). The pillows were a big hit and I also got some people interested in having their company logos made into pillows!

I’ll be posting a vlog about the event in a couple days. Until then check out Throwboy’s Flickr to see what I saw :)

Hi Guys & Gals!

You may have seen the interview I did a few months back with Lucas and Robert of OmniTechNews. OmniTechNews consists of 3 elementary school friends that do tech product reviews. They approached me about reviewing Throwboy pillows and coincidentally they were local, so I invited them over to my little pillow factory.

Once their interview hit the web, Seattle’s NPR affiliate KUOW tracked them down for a story. Since the subject was new media they wanted to interview me as well. They wanted to know what businesses think this new “flattened world where anyone with a camera can have their own show.”

Customer Service FTW

A few weeks ago a customer (now friend) César emailed me inquiring if I had any green FTW pillows in stock that I could quickly ship out. I told him I did not but I could try to speed up his order as long as it wasn’t international. Well it turned out César lived in Portugal and NEEDED that FTW pillow for his brother’s upcoming birthday. I decided I would try to help even though I would have to make the pillow right away and ship it the next day. And there was no guarantee it would get through customs in time…But it was worth a shot.

What was to come was a slew of hilarious roadblocks that César and I hit while trying to get his brother that pillow. First César had trouble with making an account on Throwboy.com. So I said, no problem I’ll just send you an invoice. Then he wasn’t able to pay with PayPal. So I told him that if he sent me an iTunes Gift Certificate for the price of the pillow we would be square. After that I shipped his pillow to Portugal. About a day later I tried to used the gift certificate and (of course) wasn’t able to use it because it was purchased with foreign currency. *facepalm*

Finally we exchanged instant messenger names in hopes that maybe César could download some stuff from the iTunes store for me with the card HE purchased. lol it was a mess and a half but it all turned out fine in the end. And César was so awesome and never got mad that all these things went down during his purchase :)
